Hi Steph,

Tnx for your concern but maybe you didn't read my full email.

I've had only ONE other cysto in the early 90s and it was done in the office with no local or general anesthesia.  Wide awake ... he just numbed the
bladder.  I was fine DURING the procedure.   So I didn't have an allergic reaction to anesthesia.  LOL

THAT info in my last email was from a site that stated the potential problems of what bladder removal by
cystoscope can cause.  NOT what happened to me.  Just info to be concerned about.

As I said MY PROBLEMS with that cysto in 1992 were AFTER and lasted a week!  Bad AD.

Further I was in NY then.  Am in AZ now.

I guess the stones are too big for just a local according to my urologist.  But who knows.

Lori,

Bless your heart, you've had some awful experiences! I've had more cystoscopies than I can recall, actually and, luckily for me, never a bad experience with any of them. I usually have them to remove numerous large bladder stones but my last one (Oct 2005) was done along with my getting a supra pubic catheter. In every cystscopy instance though I've had it done outpatient at a hospital under general anesthesia. The only "crappy" effect I've ever felt was a temporary worsening of bladder spasms.

Have you had the same dr perform your cystos? Do you know what anesthesia was used when you had an adverse reaction? I've heard, but don't know how true it is, of quads undergoing this with just a local and faring much better - wonder (if it's true) if this would work for you?

Best of luck,

Steph
