| Paul, I am a friend of Hans and a benefactor to the institute. the 60 minutes presentation was, as usual, unrevealing. At least Hans was able to indicate from where stem cells are acquired (no dead babies, in fact the nucleus from the fertility clinic egg isn't even permeated; no DNA is accessed!) Human trials have begun this year and huge strides are occurring in other countries. I firmly believe in the progress at the reeve-irvine which, by the way, is moving forward on the fast track with a preventive treatment for brand new injuries like yours. Our bodies destroy the intact myelin when the cord is traumatized. This treatment would halt the destructive effects of our bodies defense system! Our cords are not severed, they are simply bruised and demyelineated. I dont live and wait for the procedure for remyelineation of my cord such that I will ever be as good as new, but I am VERY OPEN and optimistic that it may be possible to restore control of bowel, bladder and sex. There are so many mobility aids! Be positive and optimistic best, Brien On Feb 28, 2006, at 7:44 PM, Paul Jacobson wrote:
