I have the same type of problem with my van. It's hard to believe
that people still park right next to you even if you try to take up two
spots. When I'm fortunate enough to part in a handicap spot I always try
to back into it so my lift unfolds into the driving lane or by park at the end
of the row. In the wintertime here in northern Minnesota the painted lines
of the parking spaces get covered up so I always try to park at the end of the
row next to the main driving lane so nobody will park next to me.
