Congratulations New Mexico. Today at 1:30 pm Governor Richardson held a press event and signed the Money Follows the Person legislation, HB 353!
New Mexico advocates who worked so hard to get the bill passed in their state legislature, worked hard again to ensure that the Governor did not veto the bill. Support from many of you around the country also came pouring in. Congratulations and thanks to champions of freedom and disability rights in New Mexico, Sherri Watson, Gil Yildiz and many, many others who held firm in their belief it could happen and made sure that it did happen. Congratulations and thanks to advocates across the United States who took up the call and lent support.

Governor Richardson signed the MAP bill this morning (Wed, March 8th) and is doing a press event at 1:30 mountain time.
Governor Richardson should be commended for working with NM advocates to make this a reality.
Thank you to every advocate that contacted the Governor and made him aware how important MFP is to rebalancing the institutional bias in our country.
We all need to work with our Governors to make Money Follows the Person a reality in every state in the nation and give every person in an institution the choice to live in the community.
