Hey Steph,
BTW it took me several months to do this so be patient and cover
all your bases.
Family played a big part along with some good friends and I don't
know your situation as f! ar as how much assistance you need daily
like bathing, BP, eating, cleaning etc.... but you can ask for an
extra bedroom for a live in which helps because they get free rent on
top of pay in exchange for assisting you, this works well for me
but you must trust this person with your life as you know.
There are grants for adaptive equipment out there too for lifts
or bath modifications so be looking into that too. The people at the
ILC's or your ADAPT contact should know also.

Hey Everyone,
As you all may or may not know I've
been living in a nursing home for 4 years and when I first got on this
list many here encouraged me to think about getting out of
it. But, at the time, I wasn't ready. Well, call it an itch, call
it craziness but I'm longing to be out in the world again but need
advice - is it worth attempting? Where should I begin my
journey?
I live in rural North Florida near
Jacksonville and know that Sec 8 housing there is backlogged, but
maybe I can try? I'm not a SCI and don't qualify for the BSCIP
programs. Give me pointers, ladies and gentlemen, please?
:o)
