My shoulder has been like that for 4 out of 6 years post and just like you're describing.
I use a Lydaderm patch to help with the pain.

For the last week or so I've had VERY BAD shooting pain in my weak left arm. It happens when I'm using it to drive or just laying in bed. It hurts so much and fast that I yell out "Ouch" It almost feels like it's breaking. Could this be osteoporosis?
I'm going next week to Kessler to see my rehab Doctor, maybe she can give me an X-ray.
