Mark,

Why is there such a big difference, depending on your age of injury?  , I know a guy who died, in Kansas City, because he did not have any care during the night and he was on a ventilator 24/7.  He wanted to live independently, he died because of that.  Independent should not be something, one has to give up, just because they are ventilator dependent.
He was a peer support counselor and he came to the hospital to try to tell me that I could live with a ventilator, when I thought I was going to have one.

Are family members responsible for the rest of time?  Many don't realize vent users can't be left alone.  Actually, I'd love to be left alone but it's not worth risking my life.  I missed 24/7 by a year.  Do you need to go through an agency or does the state give you money and you hire /fire yourself?  I assume you mean PCA'S not nurses right?  I'd like to move south and get my wife away from her family but most of the southern states have lousy social services.

Eric,
If you were injured before 18 they have 24/7 care otherwise 8-10 hours a day 7 days a week at $9.43 an hour.
Now if you need housing they put you on sec 8 waiting list but while you're on the list you qualify for TBRA which is good for 2 years or until sec 8 kicks in.
Of course Medicaid takes care of meds etc........

Anything else?

Lori,
I'm here in Arkansas and I have no problems at all with Health care.
Is there anything specific you need to know about?

How many of you reside in Arkansas?  And how is the home health-care situation there?
