What is a syrinx? Im having all this pain that I haven't had before. I was diagnosed with having a syrinx at C 6 in December 2005 after having an MRI. It was explained to me by my spinie Doctor that it is a fluid based cyst. It causes pain, numbness and loss of function due to pressure pressing on the spine from the cyst.
She also said if the pain gets to bad, she would send me to a neurosurgeon to have it drained or a shunt can be put in so it can be drained when needed.
I freaked out when she mentioned the draining.
To know if you have one you will need to get an MRI.
