Dave, I don't enjoy rides in vans like a lot of you guys. I use to. I feel like I just got off a rollarcoaster after a 1 hour van ride. I like the big clumbsy chairs now. I had a lot of broken bones in my accident and after 30 years, they never healed really right, and now they are deforming. Hip joints and knees are extremely arthritic. I have bone spurs all over and my spine is crooked and getting worse. I use to be able to transfer on a sliding board with minimal help, but I fell and it fractured my left femure so I cant hold my balance. Every few years I have critical bone deformities ground off where its cutting through skin, they double the skin up to prevent it from growing out as fast. When they took off a spur on my spine I stopped needing oxycontin and went back to hydrocodone (but now I'm gettin the back pain back). I need to go for an mri but I dread it cause I know something is messed up.

well, don't be too jealous - especially of the IBOT. yes, it's cool and leading edge but it is very large and clumsy in tight places like hallways, and it is not certified for use as a driving chair - in a van. all the whiz-bang electronics are very cool, but i'm sure repairs are hell. a 500$ pride jet from ebay and a ramp van sure turned my mobile-life around. just how mobile are you john? any triceps, any transfers?

I have seen an IBOT. I have read about them. I have not met an insurance company that will buy one. Medicare and medicaid insist that I will walk before they pay for one. I find that as I get older I become lower on the list of folks thats going to get the new cool handy devices that make life more than minimally barable. I'm jealous of y'all with per-mobiles and vans that you can drive. lol Sometimes I feel like I'm starving and sitting watching everyone else eat steak. The IBOT is like looking at porn. It just frustrates me. lol

My friend's dad a 6 foot lift for him powered by a 25$ electric chain fall from ACE Hdw. Worked pretty well. Another way might be to try the IBOT. --> IBOT The Dream Machine

Has anyone ever put an elevator in their home? I was wondering the costs, if it’s $5k or closer to $20k
Or how about a lift for the stairs? Do they have lifts for stairs that make u-turns? Can you use a big electric chair on one?
