That is exactly what I do and how I feel Greg! When I lived in the Northeast there was more drab weather than good weather. And, essentially, nowhere to stroll to. Or just the same old same old.
Now that I am out here and our area is quiet and offers miles and miles of sidewalks and "sidestreet bikers areas on the main roads" ... I am always out by myself walking my dog and enjoying the views of the mountains, the gorgeous sunsets, the peacefulness of the area and the warmth altogether! The warmth is most important but being given the opportunity for wheelchairs strolls including its independence is fantastic!
Every evening I can go toward a different area [rather than the same old street every day] and still have a great view, a smooth ride, a peaceful atmosphere, etc. etc. etc.. The only downfall is that we cannot afford a home here and we would like another dog or two. We are still looking to move but I do not know if there will be any place comparable to what I just described. I am not only talking about myself though and I am married. My husband is ready to move on so that we can enjoy other things in life.
Of course, in 30 years this may be the slums but I will be too old to care by then! I say that because both of the homes and properties that my husband and I grew up in [even though almost a country apart - Santa Fe New Mexico and small town in New York State] has now become disgustingly trashy, unkempt, etc.
When we were growing up both of our areas were immaculate. It is rather heartbreaking.
I am very grateful to have been able to enjoy this atmosphere for the last five years!

Subject: [QUAD-L] Going Outside
Since my move to AZ, my life has changed so much. In WA I stayed inside all day and only went out a few times a month, like out to eat. I never just went out to roll around.
Plus I wore layers of close. Now I spend most of my day outside in a short sleeve shirt on the patio. And I’m always going out for strolls. I just spent hours at the park watching kids doing soccer practice and baseball practice. It’s just nice to be ale to go out by yourself and do nothing. I feel a lot better too, I still take the same amount of pain meds, but I feel much more active now. I’m planning on taking a 4 mile journey to the small airport to watch the planes, but a major street I would need to use has no sidewalks for a few blocks, just bumpy gravel. If any of you are always cold, I suggest moving somewhere warm if at all possible.
