Hey,
I was injured Jan 16 98 , was 21 at the time and a rookie police officer. I started driving my van just over two years post injury. My dad was against it but I went ahead with it anyway, now hes ok with the idea. In my six years of driving Ive had a few scary experiences.....
1) I had a wheel come off my van at 40 mph, luckily I had on my seatbelt and a cellphone.
2)I got the accelerator stuck at 3/4 throttle, was pretty interesting.
3) The lift started to unfold by itself and break the doors open, lol.
A cellphone is a must for quad driving, also keep water with you in case you get stuck inside. I keep a spare cathe bag in my van, flashlight, fire extinguisher and a few other things.
The van I drive now is a 2000 safari with a side lift, raised roof and doors, swivel drivers seat, electric door, and hand controls. Very good van for me to drive but sucks to ride in
because Im to high to see out the windows. If you plan to be a rider go with the dropped floor instead of a raised roof. Make sure its dropped at least 4-6 inches in a fullsize, 10 inches in a mini.
Ive had no wrecks yet or tickets, Ill keep my wheels crossed.
