| Hey Dan, I was just thinking about you yesterday because I had not heard back from you after my longer e-mail to you about what a urologist told you. As you know, no preventatives or prophylactics [cranberry juice, D-MANNOSE, Macrobid] are going to work if there is an infection already going on.
Because you have been battling Pseudomonas for so long [as I have] ... you are probably going to have to go on IV antibiotics again. And they can be ordered to be done at home. I had both Pseudomonas and Proteus growing at the same time and they are extremely nasty bugs that do not one to go away. You know that I have been there before recently [doctor suggested for me to take LEVAQUIN until the culture and sensitivities came back]. We have had extreme problems with the laboratories taking their good old time or not doing sensitivities or losing the culture specimen ... the list goes on. Although, they are not the ones who are sick!!!! Three years ago I planned a trip to San Diego and had to cancel at the last minute because of a severe bladder infection. I still have not been able to go with all the troubles I have had over the last three years with infections and/or wounds! And it does not seem like your doctor is being serious enough for this. People are probably tired of hearing me say this ... but my husband has had so much first-hand experience of what these particular bugs can do ... that it is scary to act so laissez-faire about them! The doctors and the laboratories I mean. That is
BULLSHIT that your doctor is telling you "if there is more than two organisms present ... they can't find out how to treat it ..." Even my home health nurses know that as well as numerous web sites that will verify that. Your doctor sounds lazy and there are so many of them that are. IV antibiotics like GENTAMYACIN [important information below] and/or VANCOMASIN are used to treat one or two OR BOTH organisms especially with Pseudomonas being in there. And with your history, I would almost guarantee that Pseudomonas is one of the organisms. So many people [even ambulatory or able-bodied folks] are in deep kimshee because these organisms got out of control in their bodies. There
has got to be a good urologist somewhere in your area [as I said, I had to go three different ones to find a good one]. Gentamicin sulfate (Garamycin) (jen-tah- MY-sin) "Uses: Systemic: Serious infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia, Citrobacter and Staphylococcus. Should be considered as initial therapy in suspected or confirmed gram-negative infections. In combination with carbenicillin for treating life-threatening infections due to P. Aeruginosa. In combination with penicillin for treating endocarditis caused by group D streptococci. In combination with penicillin for treating suspected bacterial sepsis or staphylococcal pneumonia in the neonate. Intrathecal administration is used in combination with systemic gentamicin for treating meningitis,
ventriculitis, or other serious CNS infections due to Pseudomonas. Investigational: Pelvic inflammatory disease. "
