I was laid off from a seasonal job at the end of April.  I did not, apparently, read the fine print because although I have earned $951.74 in benefits on my medical debit card, I cannot use this money because it has been over 30 days since I was laid off.  My option is now to lose the money or pay a COBRA premium for two months of $237.45 each month to use that money.  The money from the premium payment will go to my debit account, except for 2% which will go to them for administrative costs.  Essentially, I will be paying over half of what I have in that account in order to have access to those funds I already have!  Then I must use the rest quickly before I am terminated (I would not pay for another month).

Has anyone heard of this craziness?  I'm sick over it.  Seems like a racket to me.  I though I had untill october to use the money I already have in that account.
