A short time ago I was asking everybody what hobbies they were interested in. I did not get much of the response but I told everyone how deeply involved my husband and I are with genealogy. My husband began 30 years ago.
We now have over 10,000 names in our database! It is incredible to learn where your bloodline came from, where they were born, when they were born, how long they lived, when they passed away and possibly how they died.
It has been easier for my husband the last five months because he found out his paternal line came from Royalty and Royalty keeps very good records on their offspring!
For ages we have been using PAF as our database but we just came across another one that we like much better and is so fun! We also add photographs to as many people as we can. We have tons of old black-and-white photographs of our ancestors.
To answer your question, LOL, my maternal line is Danish and my paternal line is Russian. My husband has many Norwegian ancestors. Go Vikings! So, like many people, we share Scandinavian heritage.
We have gone so far that now, if we can link one name, my husband and I can possibly be cousins! It may be the sixth cousin, 15 times removed-- but hey!
Also, for the longest time I have been wanting to write my own personal memoir. It became an overwhelming task but because my husband is always trying to find me all sorts of unique software and gadgets to make things easier for me he came across a program called "Personal Historian" and it makes writing so much easier by putting things into manageable chunks. That is what is keeping me busy these days! I want my heritage to live on!

Hey everybody-
I'm asking this in no way negatively. I was wondering what
heritages everybody here, (who wants to share), is. I think it's
interesting to learn about different cultures and the similarities and
differences each have. That was always a neat part of Social Studies in
school. I'm German, Irish, Polish, and Czechoslovakian, & not Native
American, but an American. Anybody else want to tell? : )
