Well, my friend has a serious problem.
He has been using a Foley catheter for 35 years and had a urological
checkup every three to five years. Of course over the years the catheter
has caused erosion and he has been having a problem with leaking around the
catheter.
He went to the urologist for his checkup and the examination of the bladder
showed a mass. The urologist took a biopsy, but will not know the outcome
for two weeks.
His conversation with the urologist turned to alternatives and he was
informed that if the bladder needs to be removed he would need to go to a
uromosty (spelling??) .
Has anybody ever encountered having their bladder removed or does anyone
know of other options? He has heard horror stories about
uromosties constantly leaking and really does not knew what to do.
Thanks for your help,
GA
