The only option that he is suggesting is an external ostomy that will need to be changed twice a week.  I am not wild about that idea as I understand that they leak frequently and need to be replaced often.  I used a cath for 26 years then in 1999 had to get a urostomy. My husband changes it every 8 to 10 days. My cath leaked way more than the ostomy.   I like it MUCH better than a cath because I don't have to worry about "it" as much.
