LOL.  You were either dreaming or the drugs were kickin in.  I don't remember a soft insert.
Insert are big in bicycle racing.  They are all hard to ensure that a racer is not interupted by a flat.  Soft inserts would not be effective in stopping a nail that penetrated the rubber surface.
Maybe that is why I push for the SLIME and its proper useage.
