I have been feeling a little under the weather and therefore not able to get on the list very much, but the information William has put out is very effective.  Every time I get any type of phlegm in my lungs that I am unable to get out myself, I go into Trendelenburg (the position he described) and have one of my attendants turned me on the side and pound on my back shoulder blade.  I usually cough up the stuff pretty quickly.  It is uncomfortable, but you feel considerably better when it's out of your system.

BTW, my doctor gave me simple Robitussin for diabetics the last time to use as an expectorant.

River, a few years ago I had a round of pneumo and about died. Like you, I
can't cough. I got the crud up by lying on my back on a hospital bed, then
elevating my feet as far as possible so I was almost standing on my head. My
wife then beat my chest like a drum and the gunk came loose. I believe it
saved my life.
