The individual who own the house which I now own, used to have a similar setup in their bedroom.  If my wife ever decides to live here permanently, I will probably employ similar measures myself, but that is if she is able to tolerate all of my annoying things I do at night.  TV, movie in the bed up and down, turning fans off and on, etc..
