Dillon,
I personally have not used a computer from bed in quite some time, but this is more of a situation where I feel like I get enough computer use when I am up in my wheelchair and do not want to spend any more time on it from bed. I still have a laptop, but it is quite old and will not support the current version I have of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. However, since you wanted to know how I had it set up I thought I would share this with you.
I sat my laptop on a bedside table (this was a hospital table I was able to get for free) at an angle where I could still watch TV, yet view the computer. Since I am unable to touch anything with my hands or arms and am completely reliant on the voice technology, it became a little tricky. If one of the programs froze up or the computer locked up, I was forced to shut off the computer utilizing my environmental control unit. Unfortunately, when I was forced to shut off the computer using my ECU I was unable to reboot the computer, since it was a laptop and it needed to be turned on by the power button. I never found a solution to this problem.
As far as microphones go, I utilized a microphone I purchased from RadioShack for a reasonable price and a USB external sound card which provided very quality sound. The microphone was similar to the ones you see newscasters wearing on television and it could be placed on my chest. I used to fold a towel across my chest so I could clip the microphone to it without having it directly attached to my skin. The only drawback was all ambient noise was able to filter through and this meant I could not have people talking around me when I was dictating. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help to you, but I'm sure you will give adequate advice from others.

PS below I have listed a website where you can look at the USB external sound card I utilized.

I understand you guys have a computer set up for you to use while you're in bed.  Would you please describe the accommodations you have made that allow you to use your computer while laying down in bed, wireless microphone, wall mounts, bed stand, software and other accessories.

How easy is it for you to use the computer, any drawbacks, are you able to do paid work from your bed using the computer?

I am thinking of getting the computer for myself to use from bed for both recreational work and private employment.  I would appreciate any information or assistance you guys can provide.

Thanks Dillon

In that case, I will be looking at Circuit City to see if they have any.  My experience with Plantronics has been very positive, so if I could get a backup to use when my battery is depleted on my wireless, that would be great.

Billy,

I don't wear my head, it is on boom that is over my bed for my bed computer and a stand that is used for microphone when I am in my wheelchair as my monitor moves from the bed to where I can reach it in my chair, and on my desk I have been other gooseneck with a clamp .  They both have clamps to hold the microphone
.  I don't want to be tethered to my computer either.  Sorry I did not make that clear.

Dana,
Thanks for your response.  I am unable to use a wired headset, because it tethers me down to the computer.  I have been fortunate enough to voice have wireless, but I am looking for a desk mounted microphone which has the ability to filter out extraneous noises.  I have seen some, but unfortunately they cost about as much as the wireless microphones.
Good luck and hopefully you will be able to continue to use your system.  I would say if it's not broke don't fix it, especially when it comes to microphones.

I got my Plantronics USB headset for a micro Center in the store and I also have additional one-year warranty for micro sooner .  I don't see them on the web site.  I hope they are still carrying about the store.  I know there's the other stores used to carry such as Circuit City.  they seem to work pretty well and are cheaper than the wireless although I would like to try it sometime.
