Ron, they told me that while i'm getting ready for an operation and getting
IV"S put in and blood drawn that my blood pressure sometimes shoots up also but
said after a little while it slows back down...they said this happens a lot and
is usually due to nerves and anxiety. However like during my recent bladder
stone removal, I did get disreflexia but the Urologist is very familiar with
that and knows about meds and how to help control it. Him and the
anestesiologist woke me up twice during the surgury to see if i was feeling OK.
They kept me completely out but just enough that I could be awoke easily and
fast.....it worked great for me.

that should be covered in the pre-op meeting with your doctor and doctors about
your precondition and have it written into the doctor's report. The surgical
team, must read the pre-op report before they begin to prep you. Ask LindaF,
if I'm correct.

Hey yall,
I was in the hospital getting my colonoscopy 2 years ago and the iv they put
in me caused me to go into dysreflexia. I watched my blood pressure go up on
the machine right b4 my eyes. I was scared as hell and neither the people
prepping me for the colonoscopy or my mother believed anything was wrong. It
was a very scary momment for me because they were putting me asleep. With the
grace of god I made it through, but Im kinda bitter because noone ever believes
anything I say when I go in the hospital.
