Hi John

Those are really good questions.I've been plagued with the edema since I was
in rehab. The only drugs I take are Levbid, an occasional Tylenol, and
vitamins. The edema goes completely away every night when I go to bed, and
returns in the morning, when I get up in my wheelchair.

Because I had no insurance for eight years, when I became eligible for
Social Security I went through a battery of tests to determine if I was
still alive! LOL. They determined that everything was in the right place and
working well, and that I was doing very well. Great news for me. No news on
the edema however.

Today is five weeks since I came to bed to treat these wounds, and I am
remaining edema free. However, I would rather live with the edema, than live
the rest of my life in bed, (fancy that).

Joan, are you sure edema isn't a side effect of some drug you are on.
Swelling fingers is often a sign your kidneys aren't functioning up to par.
I have found that when my fingers are sweling, my lungs are next to fill
with water.

Hi Joan,

My fingers curled enough that I can grasp a pop-can and hold it in what
looks to be a natural grasp. The pinkie on my right hand curls downward,
but not a lot.

My fingers have never curled up, but they sure do swell up. The only time
they resemble fingers is while I am still in bed, but once I get up the
edema swells them up -- it's not really that bad, but down in rehab, they
had me wearing gloves to try and keep the swelling down. It didn't work, so
I decided that fat fingers were better than fat fingers inside gloves. LOL.

Have a great day Joan
