Happy Saint Patrick’s day to all of you, whether you be Irish or not. One
grandfather and one grandmother were from Ireland, so I’m at least half
Irish. However, we’re not having corned beef and cabbage but we are having
German cabbage rolls instead. I lived in Germany for six years, and
absolutely love the cabbage rolls. So, a little Irish and a little
German-have a great day every one. Joan

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO YOU ALL!!!!

Have you heard the story of our favorite Texas Irishman, "Uncle" Tom
Corridon, who ran a small hotel in Iowa Park, Texas?

Corridon claimed to have "sung himself into jail and out again" on one
particular St. Patrick's Day eve in Wichita Falls.

So filled with Irish pride was Corridon that night he stood on a public
street and sang "The Wearin' O' the Green" loud enough to attract the
attention of nearby policemen. They considered Corridon's singing to be a
disturbance of the peace and took him to jail.

This being the early 1900s and Wichita Falls being a much smaller town, a
crowd quickly gathered and followed Uncle Tom and the policemen to see what
the city judge would do with him.

After the officer stated the complaint, Corridon reminded the judge that it
was "St. Patrick's Day in the mornin'!"

The judge sentenced Corridon to sing his song again which he promptly
proceeded to do and was just as promptly discharged into a cheering throng.
;-)

An Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you
The wind be always at your back
The sunshine warm upon your face-

The rains fall soft upon
Your fields, and
Until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
