my '01 had a similar problem. there are some spring loaded contacts that
don't always spring in and out completely. there is also a magnetic actuator
that signals the computer when to pull the door closed. it can be adjusted
easily to provide proper functioning. my conversion dealer had mine fixed in
a few minutes. obviously, the adjustments are sensitive (but cheap to
perform).

IMS is a division of the Braun Corporation. In 2000, the automatic rear
hatch and auto sliding doors were considered OEM by Chrysler Corp. Determine
if
the failing part is OEM Chrysler or OEM Braun as you attempt to resolve this
problem. Also, determine if there are any obstructions in the glide path of
the closing door. Lastly, the micro switch's placement. If its not
properly positioned, it won't sense the door closing and turn off the door
lights.
That switch must be touched to close the switch.

Has anyone with an IMS conversion van have problems with the cargo door not
closing all the way???
I bought a new dodge caravan in 2000. It was shipped off for
modification. After 3 years, the door won't close all the way. They said it
was a
sensor. They fix it and it works for about a year. Every year for the last 4
years, I have his same problem. The door doesn't completely shut. Its
frustrating. The interior lights come on and the door opens up. It's to cold
for
that plus its unsafe. I'm tempted to have them take off there crap and return
the door to stock. It wouldn't be automatic but atleast it closes.
