I hate to be opicky, but my skillets are lined with teflon too. I don't see why it would loose its seal to plastic with just hot coffee going through it. I think some of what people say about things like PTFE is a bit rediculous. The stuff doesn't loose its bond when heated by gamma radiation. Why should it start smoking off gasses from my breath? The lies told be companies about competitors products get a tad rediculous. You don't hear them complain about breathing benzene in traffic jams. They can't prevent it without stopping the use of gasoline. The gas in the styreofoam coffee cup is probably more lethal than lead, but its so cheap to make. Isn't that same tubing used in medical versions? Where the big difference is they charge more for it. Aspertame is suppose to have every ill effect from alzhiemers to zenophobia yet a 25 year study by 5 major universities failed to show any ill effects. Vitamin E that is suppose to be a wonderful supplement accelerates lung cancer so badly that all studys with vitamin E and cancer have been halted but its not listed on the bottle of vitamin e. Its a minefield! john just ranting..dont take it personal. The problem with Tygon is that it's made with PTFE (Teflon). It's been proven theat Teflon can release poisonous gasses when heated. I would not drink through it. But if you want to be sure that the tube doesn't break down, consider this. Tygon tube is the choice of the food and beverage industry. The tube is stencil'd with food grade or food safe. Anything... might work. But Tygon is the grade to consider. Best Wishes W Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get several feet of the plastic (or plastic-like) tubing that's used for the water supply line to a refrigerator or icemaker, and cut it to desired lengths. Be sure to wash it good before use. They have the narrow tubing (1/4" O.D.) that works well for hot liquids that you sip and the wider tubing (1/2" O.D.) for those bevs you really want to suck down. 73 Greg K4KO Lebanon, TN See what's free at AOL.com. ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
