If the stones are in your bladder, I had this very procedure performed in January. I didn't have any real significant downtime, but I had quite a bit of discomfort and pain. I also had to have somebody around me constantly encase I plugged the catheter, which I did a couple of times. It bled for about a week, but afterwards I was feeling good.
However, this was with a tremendous amount of stones in my bladder. Normally they can remove them with with a simple cystoscopy. Whenever this is performed, I normally need just that evening to recover and I am doing fine the next day. The laser, was a little different in that I had a lot more pain, but I should say that I have the ability to feel my bladder pretty well all the time. If you don't have much sensation in your bladder, you may not have any problems at all. I, nonetheless, agree that you should ask your doctor all of these questions so you feel comfortable.
