I fight the battle of low blood pressure and dizziness all of the time. I
have found that if I eat something and then get in my Van to be driven
somewhere, my blood pressure drops drastically. Occasionally it takes me
quite a while to be able to function, but at least now I can sit upright the
majority of the day. For three years after my initial injury, I had to sit
back in order to be able to talk to somebody without passing out.
In my case, my abdominal Binder has a lot to do with how well my blood
pressure stays in the normal range. I occasionally use ephedrine, but I
don't like the racing heart that comes along with this medication. I only
use it when I know that my schedule requires me to eat something prior to
leaving my house. All of my problems are low blood pressure.
I also have a deficit in potassium and sodium, but I try to monitor how much
water I take in (I usually try to drink too much) and that helps some.
Be careful with the Gatorade. I once used Gatorade to bring my potassium
and sodium levels up, only to discover later that I packed on around 25
pounds. My face is never lost the weight, even though the rest of my body
eventually did.
If you need sodium, you might want to think about the Gatorade drink with no
calories or possibly one of the other waters that have sodium in them.

*Hi Guys,*
* I've been taking Nurotin(sp) for about six months now for nerve
pain. The past week I've been getting dizzy when I turn in bed when getting
dressed, sitting up in bed, reclining in my chair and even if I sit forward
like over a table. Now none of this is every time but it's beginning to
cramp my style. I saw my visiting nurse today BP was 70 over 105 which is
kinda normal for me. She suggested increasing my salt intake like with
Gatorade or potato chips but don't go nuts.*
* She left me a phone message so when I got home at 8:30 tonight I called
he and left her this fowling message: "Hi Jinifer, I just wanted to let you
know that I got an extra large jug of Gatorade, drank about half of it then
I ate a salt bagel and a half of a bag of potato chips. I'm just doing what
you told me. Bye"*
* Anybody else here have trouble with dizziness?
