NINE CROSS STATE TOWN HALL MEETINGS ON HEALTH CARE- begin next week

+++++Make sure the disability perspective is a factor that is considered in the
statewide town hall meetings on the new heath care plan for the uninsured

Eric Wright, director of Indiana University's Center for Health Policy, was
enlisted by the Family and Social Services Administration in March to come up
with a long-term strategy for health care reform. The town hall meetings are
designed to tap into the concerns and the various health care challenges the
state will face over the next 25 years, such as rural needs versus those of
cities, the types of services available, and access problems, Wright said.

In conjunction with the town hall meetings, the IU team will meet with focus
groups of consumers, providers, politicians and other stakeholders in each of
the nine cities. Then they'll take what they learn on the listening tour and
from their technical experts and prepare proposals for the Legislature,
possibly as soon as next year.
