Cannot read or display file. Thanks to Merrill for FWDing this to the list for me :-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We (the q-list) had this discussion shortly after he passed away. We keep most all of our e-mails but that was so long ago now that I would never be able to find it but I posted my opinion which no one else seemed to even have thought of. I thought that was strange but I guess everyone overlooked a lot of details and just "bought" the media story, as well as his wife's story, that pressure wounds and other infections were the reason for his death. I disagree and this is why: A) Christopher Reeve wanted to walk so very badly and he was fiercely determined to within five years after his injury. Well, those five years turned into six and seven and eight and so on. But he was DETERMINED and DESPERATE for it to happen to him. B) Like all of the rest of us JUST AFTER recovering from our original injuries, we may have lost a lot of weight and had muscle atrophy but, if anyone remembers, Christopher Reeve (from the neck up) LOOKED like the Christopher Reeve that we knew. A full head of hair, healthy facial features, etc.. BUT within a very short time (within two years or less) he lost all of his hair and only had wisps of gray hair covering his head. Within this very short time span... he looked like he had aged 30 years! He looked like a very old man within a couple of years. My gut instinct told me right then and there that he was letting doctors experiment with his body for his desperate dream to walk again soon come true. I knew something was terribly wrong with that picture! C) Chris had the best doctors of anyone of us, etc. He also had a circle of friends (famous like Robin Williams, etc as well as infamous) passing along the money to help whatever they could do to help him with his MISSION. I am afraid that Chris was treading into dangerous waters doing whatever he had to do to be walking by his 10th year or his 15th year post injury. Or rather, letting the experimental doctors do what they all thought was going to or WOULD BE be OK/not toooooo dangerous. D) None of us, even the media, had wind that he was going downhill SO rapidly. And that is not quite normal either. All of a sudden... the world hears he has died. Strange goings-on indeed! E) All of us have had our share of very serious and and on-going pressure sores or wounds. As well as bladder infections, etc. yet the majority of us have prevailed even going to 50 yrs post. Remember, he was getting the best of help and "supposedly" a pressure wound got out of hand almost overnight and he was dead to everyone's total surprise? Come on folks ... think about it! F) IF, in fact, he was so seriously ill ... what was his wife doing on the other side of the country doing interviews or some willy-nilly thing when her husband would have had to be essentially on his deathbed? He was obviously hospitalized for a very good reason. Why the heck, ESPECIALLY at that time, would she take off? I saw her do a Texas two-step (or 4 or 5) on Oprah one day. Dodging the REAL questions surrounding his death. But no one caught her on it or called her on it or asked her twice about it when it made no sense. Most ALL of what she was saying! G) Primarily because of how Christopher looked in less than two years after his injury... *I* truly hink they were experimenting on him and he was fully aware of it and it was continuing (undercover of course). And I fully believe that those experiments eventually killed him. H) There would be no way in hell for this to leak out to the public that private experiments were going on. I believe it was between Christopher and his doctors and that there was (or WAS NOT to be safe) a signed agreement of whatever was going on. It was probably all illegal but doctors would get great kudos if they were able to help him walk again (for real) but they would NEVER be called on the carpet if something got out of hand. I) I believe, without a doubt, that something DID get out of hand and there was a cover-up. All they had to do to explain away his death was to say that he died of secondary complications that happen to spinal cord injuries and WALA ... they got away with it. Except *I* don't buy the story that the public was told. Anyway, that is my two cents and I am sticking with it. With all the resources to him a wound was the explanation. Merrill
