[QUAD-L] Trouble with Word document

Hello, in Microsoft Office Word in a few of my documents is a symbol which I am 
not familiar with.  It looks like the letter q with the round part filled in 
followed by a vertical line.  Does anybody know what this is and how I can get 
rid of it?
