I remember hearing him talk about his return from WW2 where he was hit by a
machine gun during a battle. He wasn't saying he was physically paralyzed. He
was paralyzed by a self-pity that had overcome him. He wasn't able to overcome
the mental paralysis that had such a hold of him. As a liberal I get a chuckle
out of some of the things that come from many of our politicians, but Bob
really has served America and he has never been like some of the mental
defectives that have spewed forth such tid bits of wisdom as: the only reason
I'm in a wheelchair is because, a: I don't want to walk bad enough, b: I don't
believe in Christ, c: I don't believe in god, d: I don't pray right, e:I must
not have the moral ability to get out of the chair. Bob Dole has done a lot for
the VA and that has helped many of us.
I don't usually agree with him politically, but he isn't mean spirited and he
fights for what he believes in. If a tenth of the politicians would just do
that, this nation wouldn't be dependent on the decisions of an illiterate Texan
who believes that the rich have been deprived and has, by destroying the social
safety nets, raised taxes on the poor.

By the way, is Medicare plan D working for anyone? It is costing me $1830.00
more per year than what I use to pay. The people older than me are mostly
paying about the same or a little bit less. (folks that are over 65). I am
thinking about doing the Canadian drug smuggling again.

Mark,

This is so true.

Here is one guy who said that same line you typed, "He preached that hard work
cured him of his paralysis. The only thing that wasn't, was his one arm." (I
believe it was his right.)

Anyhow that guy was Bob Dole the Republican candidate for President.

Well, when his "poor arm" didn't save him from falling off the stage. I
thought, I guess you didn't work hard enough, did you?

Then, chuckled a bit.
