I purchased my first mattress from a medical supply company and they charged me a pretty sizable fee. That was 11 1/2 years ago. I just purchased one of the inexpensive models that you can see on eBay if you search for alternating pressure mattress. It was relatively inexpensive, but I would think that it would develop a leak eventually.
I was lucky enough to find a very good buy a few months later, but just recently purchased a backup to this mattress just in case. The company told me everything was included and had been checked out, but there was one part missing. Since I didn't purchase this through eBay I am having a little more difficulty trying to resolve this problem. I'm not advocating for eBay, but there are plenty of reputable vendors out there if you look through their history sufficiently enough. Good luck and before you bid make sure you do some research on the seller and the product to determine if it is a good buy. It is unbelievable that quadriplegics have to look around for their own mattresses or have severe ulcers before the government will give them one. It's much more cost-efficient to give all quadriplegics good mattresses than it is to pay the medical bills later.
