Happy Anniversary, John. Independent providers have to have a Medicaid
Provider Number. The last 2 digits are assigned to her rather than an agency.
Without that number she can't be paid by Medicaid.

Subject: [QUAD-L] ANYONE KNOW ABOUT INDEPENDANTS

I just hired a lady that is an independant provider. Most of my aides have
been from agencies. This lady use to be from an agency. Is the billing process
meant to be a pain, or is she just not familiar with it? I'd like to help her
with it but so much of it is just gibberish. I got a long lecture of how
nursing homes are a drain on medicaid and frankly, they are often nightmarish.
The agencies have usually treated me well but I'm told they cost 4 times what
an independant costs medicaid. So why would states make their billing process
for independants such a cryptic mess?
The 24th was my 32nd anniversary as an old man in a wheelchair. Thats right,
I've always been old. :) Got that Walter Brenan thing going. I hope y'all are
doing well. Not getting many e-mails. Kinda wondering if I fell off the list
again?

  My best to everyone,
