Annual  Governor’s Council Disability Conference to be held November 27 and  
28

Join Indiana disability advocates at the annual Governors  Conference for 
People with Disabilities. The conference will be held at the  Hyatt Regency in 
downtown Indianapolis on Tuesday and Wednesday November  27-28.  For detailed 
information or to download a registration form visit  the Council website at:

Highlights: Kathy Snow, parent advocate and  author of Disability Is Natural 
is the featured speaker on Tuesday. She  will be the opening keynote speaker 
and do two workshops. On Wednesday  national presenters include, Marty Ford, 
director of Legal Advocacy for The  Arc and UCP Disability Policy Collaboration 
and for the awards luncheon,  Richard Pimentel, a Vietnam Vet who lost most of 
his hearing in an explosion  and later was a key player in the passage of the 
ADA. A movie based on his  life “ Music Within” stars Michael Sheen and will 
be released this fall.  

Discounted registration fees are available for parents and people with  
disabilities with scholarships for people who receive SSI, SSDI or TANF.   The 
Scholarship deadline is October 22. 10.75 CEU available from the IU School  of 
Social Work. Overnight rooms are available for only $83 per night for  singles 
and  $108 for doubles

Speakers and 10 different workshops  were selected to appeal to people with 
disabilities, advocates, and families.  There will be opportunities to network 
with other advocates, take part in the  annual disability poll, win door 
prizes, get information from exhibitors, and  dance at the disco reception.
