Hi group,
I'm a C5/C6 Quad post 16 years living in the Los Angeles area and was a
member of the group years ago and just rejoined the group last week. Before my
injury I always had custom Hot Rods but afterward just had normal full sized
vans that were your typical wheelchair vans with nicer wheels and tinted
windows and I could only passenger but not drive. About 2 years ago I got the
opportunity to get a used 1999 Dodge Caravan with low miles on it that was
already setup for a quad to drive. Now that I was back behind the wheel I
wanted something more than a soccer mom's minivan. Over the next year I
customized my van with paint, interior, wheels, huge stereo, intake, exhaust,
painted under hood, and over 50 modifications. I now do about 20 car shows a
year and have a dozen trophies. It's crazy how much attention my van draws at
shows. I guess people are bored of the usual Mustangs and Cameros and enjoy
something unique. I let the kids go inside and the mom's say, "hey I want
a van like that". Other people in chairs say, ""you give me ideas for my van".
So far I'm the only one in a wheelchair at the shows except one guy who's a
para and transfers into a normal Corvette. I'd love to have others with custom
wheelchair vans join me at some shows or even start a van club. If you would
