I am a healthy 75 year old guy..but within the last 12 months..my wife who I
have been married to..has reached a point where she can't walk at all..and
struggles just to stand to get to a potty..That I am dealing with as best
possible..I decided to get involve in helping create an independent environment

for catstrophic disability and turned to Shepherds which is right around the
corner from my home..Now the question..I get an email from the Chief of Staff
of the Atlanta Police Department..I asked the Major if she would head up a
neighborhood group to reach out..She says yes..and then asks me what would I
suggest: A recruit age 24, last week..had both legs ambutated above the thigh
and lost the uses of his arms..he is in the local city Hospital "Grady
Memorial" his Mom came to Atlanta and sleeps in his room..right now all they do
 is
"roll him over" from time to time..I said..first get him into Shepherds..Is
there anything special you would like to pass on to the Major..the same for
others out there that get this email...You did it..from age 17..you have to be
a
 remarkable person..Myron
