I too have danced a little close to the fire at times as well - and have
always said, "that won't happen to me." I do believe there is a difference
between diving into unknown waters and smoking in bed while unable to leave.
both are similar to Russian roulette. mine happened on a trampoline, others in
cars,... all long shots but not impossible. I'm thinking she must have fallen
asleep allowing the fire to get a start. saying she 'deserved' to die is a
bit rash but her particular method seems unusually daring thus making it not
too surprising at all. I wonder if by chance Darwin is in her family tree?

i am a former smoker; not militant about it, however. with several friends
and family members who smoke, even if i were still a smoker at the time of my
accident (i quit in my very early 20's) they would all have my head on a
platter of the metal of their choice if i ever did anything so stupid as to
smoke in bed without the ability to get up and "rescue" myself should the need
arise. i am sorry for the woman's family and their loss, however.
