My cholesterol is 155. I can't remember the number of my good cholesterol
but it is low. My doctor said its from not being able to exercise like I
used to.

My neighbor had some pretty high cholesterol and got it down without drugs.
He was really careful with what he ate. It was a few months before he got
bloodwork done again but it was way down.

I don't know your situation and I fear it formyself as my brother is only 5
years older than me and is going down the path of high cholesterol that runs
in my family. Good luck with everything.

Subject: [QUAD-L] high cholesterol

i had my bloodwork done recently and my cholesterol is 275. my good
cholesterol went bad as well. i do have a family history of this. all my
siblings
and both parents. anyway, he put me on lipitor and after 2 days, i had just
about every side effect. my body felt like i was having a e-coli uti, (run
over
by a semi). i felt feverish but no fever. and chest pains. so my question is
this: do any of you fellow quads have high cholesterol? i ask because i
wonder why my body rejected it so badly & quickly. could it be a quad thing?
my
family had no problem with it. the other drugs i take are pain pills & fosamax
which the doc knew of them so i don't think it was a drug interaction
problem. we can't exercise so i'm gonna try my best with 'the diet'. it was
really
bad pain, increased spasms too.

Hi Stacy & all,
I have an update on this issue. I called the doc to report all the side
effects. He said he thought this might happen as I have a problem with SCI
pain
but Lipitor being a very good cholesterol drug, he wanted to try it. Instead
he put me on Welchol & I've had no reactions to it. I have to take 3 pills
twice a day but I guess I'll have to live with this or let it go & not live
with it :-) We all know exercise is not an option. My AB brothers is 160 and
weather permitted he runs 4 miles a day, goes on ski trips & snow mobil trips
so
go figure. Anyway, if the day comes & you can't handle Lipitor because it
makes you 3 times as miserable as you already are, try Welchol. I should add
it
works thru the digestive tract instead of the liver so the drawback is
constipation. As all drugs, if ya need them,,,whatta ya gonna do?
