Hi Tubagus,

I'm sure everyone on the list or most everyone felt as you did when they were
first injured. I know I did take a lot of time to re evalute my life. I was
devistated to find I was not going to be making a living the same way. It's
been almost 7 years for me. I had a lot of problems since then but still have
been working on getting a degree.

I luckily found something I was passionate about and want to finish my
education so I can help other disabled and/or elderly people by becomming a
social worker.

I was 27 when a type of encephalitis almost killed me by putting me in a coma
for a month. The doctors expected me to have brain damage if I survived . On
top of that they said it would take 6 months to a year before any signs of
recovery and most likely not be able to do anything for myself.

I have since hurt my back severly and had to get a lot of rods put in my spinal
column and will be getting another surgery soon where I will lose some function
because my back wont bend at all. It does very little now. Anyhow I know that
I am alive for some reason and feel very fortunate to be alive. It took time
but I am getting through it. It also helps to talk to someone.

There are options for you. Like I said, try to find something your passionate
about. You are young and will get through it. This list is great and I am
sure there are some that can tell you some pretty great stories of how they are
getting though it.

All the best to you,
Stacy

Subject: [QUAD-L] hi ...

Hi, my name is Tubagus from Indonesia. I was 26 years old in 2005 when I had a
car accident. My spinal cord injured at C4-C5 so I am paralyzed from the chest
down. I can move my hands but my fingers are paralyzed. I The accident changed
the course of my life forever. Now, I'm 29 years old, I don't have any job, I
don't know how to earn a living, and I don't know what I'm going to do for the
rest of my life.
