Hello

I am sorry but unfortunately because it is only undergraduate research, we do
not have the funds to pay for participation.  All I can offer you is the chance
to help a fellow quad/college student earn credit and funds for school.  I am
currently working on my BS in Psychology and plan on getting my MA in
occupational therapy.

Here is a brief description of the McNair Scholar’s Program which I am doing
the research for:

Program Description

This program prepares participants for doctoral studies through involvement in
research and other scholarly activities. Participants are from disadvantaged
backgrounds and have demonstrated strong academic potential. Institutions work
closely with participants as they complete their undergraduate requirements.
Institutions encourage participants to enroll in graduate programs and then
track their progress through to the successful completion of advanced degrees.
The goal is to increase the attainment of Ph.D. degrees by students from
underrepresented segments of society.

Types of Projects

Projects provide: academic counseling, financial aid assistance, mentoring,
research opportunities, seminars, summer internships, and tutoring. Guidance
for students seeking admission and financial aid for graduate programs also is
supported.

All information about the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement
Program came from http://www.ed.gov/programs/triomcnair/index.html.

Participation would be appreciated and feel free to tell anyone you know.
Thank you

Lucas

PS All who have already responed I will be replying to you shortly.

Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Undergraduate Research Study

Greetings,

With all due respect to you, your mentor and the study you are doing, what
about the Quads?

I recently finished another survey being offered by another university doing a
Neuro study and offering those who complete their study (also 15 minutes) a $20
gift certificate.  Before I take the time to offer

personal information for any study, I want to consider how I and others will be
conpensated.

Anyone else interested in the study I just finished please let me know and I'll
provide the link.

Best Wishes

W

My name is Lucas Brown and in July of 2000 I was in a motorcycle wreck that
left me with a C-5/6 spinal cord injury.  I am currently an undergraduate
student at Lamar University and participating in the McNair Scholar’s Program.
I am working on a research paper concerning the different administrations of
the prescription drug Baclofen.  The project is being overseen by Dr. Judith
Mann, a Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department.

I am looking for participants who have a traumatic spinal cord injury and
regularly consume baclofen in either the oral (by mouth) or intrathecal (via a
baclofen pump) forms, as well as the combination.  You must be at least 18
years of age to participate.

If you choose to participate, you will be emailed two surveys that should take
about 15 minutes to complete.  All of your information will remain completely
anonymous and confidential.  Participation is voluntary, so if you choose you
may discontinue your involvement in the study at any time.

If you are interested in participating please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you for your time and help,

Lucas Brown
