Lucas, at no time do I doubt you or your sincerity. I know the cause is
both good and great. I continue
to wish for your personal success. I know it will happen with or without
our participation.
As you know, you are not the first to solicit info from here. Its done
every year, sometimes twice or more.
Quad-List is a very "representative" groups with members world-wide.
As part of your study program and education, you are being used as "bait" to
attract and obtain information that can easily be purchased or obtained thru
any major medical hospital in the country.

Lastly, your personal journey was never met to be easy. You appear to be
one of those outstanding students willing to go the extra mile and I praise
your personal efforts and success. Who knows. One day I just might require
some of those services (lol)

Best Wishes

I understand your concern. It's the Internet and you never can tell. For
all we know everyone on this list is a wheelchair pretender. Yes, like I
said, I will gain money for school because of my own hard work and the
information from voluntary participants. Although in my opinion helping
others, again
voluntarily, is a rewarded all in itself, but to each his own. I know your
comments are respected on this list because I have been a member pretty much
since my accident in 2000 and know you are almost always the first to respond.
You have personally commented on several things that have helped me out.
Granted every aspect of the web could be falsified, but I have posted my
myspace in the past for all to view (_http://www.myspace.com/harpinwheelie_
(http://www.myspace.com/harpinwheelie) ).

I guess like you said it will be up to the individuals to decide.

Thanks for helping to keep this list honest.
Lucas

PS After your 1st compensation comment I did ask if we could offer a small
monetary amount, but it was denied.

To the rest of the Quad-list:
Participation in my study will get you no monetary compensation.

than a Quad

Again, with all due respect with you, your mentor and the McNair Scholar
Program, you will earn and learn from our answers. You will receive most or
all
of the compensation (in any form) and those offering their answers, will
continue to go unrewarded.

I guess it will up to the individuals to determine what they wish to offer
you free without the benefits.
Best Wishes

Hello

I am sorry but unfortunately because it is only undergraduate research, we
do not have the funds to pay for participation. All I can offer you is the
chance to help a fellow quad/college student earn credit and funds for school.
I am currently working on my BS in Psychology and plan on getting my MA in
occupational therapy.
Here is a brief description of the McNair Scholar’s Program which I am doing
the research for:

Program Description
This program prepares participants for doctoral studies through involvement
in research and other scholarly activities. Participants are from
disadvantaged backgrounds and have demonstrated strong academic potential.
Institutions
work closely with participants as they complete their undergraduate
requirements. Institutions encourage participants to enroll in graduate
programs and
then track their progress through to the successful completion of advanced
degrees. The goal is to increase the attainment of Ph.D. degrees by students
from underrepresented segments of society.

Types of Projects
Projects provide: academic counseling, financial aid assistance, mentoring,
research opportunities, seminars, summer internships, and tutoring. Guidance
for students seeking admission and financial aid for graduate programs also
is supported.
All information about the Ronald E. McNair Post baccalaureate Achievement
Program came from _http://www.ed.gov/programs/triomcnair/index.html_
(http://www.ed.gov/programs/triomcnair/index.html) .

Participation would be appreciated and feel free to tell anyone you know.
Thank you

Lucas

PS All who have already respond I will be replying to you shortly.

Greetings,

With all due respect to you, your mentor and the study you are doing, what
about the Quads?
I recently finished another survey being offered by another university doing
a Neuro study and offering those who complete their study (also 15 minutes)
a $20 gift certificate. Before I take the time to offer
personal information for any study, I want to consider how I and others will
be compensated.

Anyone else interested in the study I just finished please let me know and
I'll provide the link.

Best Wishes

My name is Lucas Brown and in July of 2000 I was in a motorcycle wreck that
left me with a C-5/6 spinal cord injury. I am currently an undergraduate
student at Lamar University and participating in the McNair Scholar’s Program.

I am working on a research paper concerning the different administrations of
the prescription drug Baclofen. The project is being overseen by Dr.
Judith Mann, a Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department.

I am looking for participants who have a traumatic spinal cord injury and
regularly consume baclofen in either the oral (by mouth) or intrathecal (via
a baclofen pump) forms, as well as the combination. You must be at least 18
years of age to participate.

If you choose to participate, you will be emailed two surveys that should
take about 15 minutes to complete. All of your information will remain
completely anonymous and confidential. Participation is voluntary, so if you
choose you may discontinue your involvement in the study at any time.

If you are interested in participating please email me at

Thank you for your time and help,
