I'm just doing simple things on my PC now so programming isn't too necessary. I'm thinking a MAC can do email, pictures, web page building and surfing, spread sheets(gotta count my money doncha know) and some graphic artsy-fartsy stuff (they are allegedly very good at A.F. stuff).
The NEW rocket - the WHOLE story huh? As you might remember - I was a manual chair quad for about the 1st 37 years or so - then I noticed aches and pains in my shoulders and fingers beginning to creep in. After hearing a few sad stories here about rotor-cuff surgeries and them -itus brothers ( I know a bunch of them and Art's the worst one!.) My job moved from a relatively small tile place to a large carpeted place. I struggled for about a year and then broke down and bought a Pride Jet. 1st one cost me $3k because I didn't know what I was doing, the next 4 cost around $500 each (you guessed, on eBay). All worked great but some better than others. I bought Jet 1's, 2's and 3's because MANY parts are interchangable - good system actually. The driving modification place would not put the lockdown plate on any of my Jets so I hade to get a Quickie (1130) I think again on eBay for $380 delivered and used that to get my van ready to go. When I got home, I parked the Quickie because it is a big tank and not very comfortable. Used my Jets for about 2 years - had a friend bolt a few pieces of angle iron to the floor so I didn't slide around. In march I decided to try my insurance company for a new rocket that I could use to drive. (The used ones always need a little tinkering.) The guy came out to evaluate me and then clear me through the ins co. Four short months later (luckily my rocket worked just fine during that time) the guy brought out my 1st BRAND NEW rocket. Other than the footrest being built for a midget, and a flat seat instead of a bucket..... it works ok. (Oh, it cost me $1,100 out of pocket - about 2 eBay rockets) The controls have a built in 1 second delay which makes it nearly impossible to drive without crashing into everything - but that is programmable and will be un-programmed shortly. If any of you have such a delay control and LIKE it, please respond - I think it is about the worst 'factory setting' they could offer. My to-do list now includes getting the lock down plate moved to the new rocket and the arm rests moved together a bit. This setting is for a fat guy, well...... a fatter guy anyway. :) All in all, I'll stick with eBay. OH,.. the 'why not refuse it?' question. OK, then what? I'm not sure you can MAKE the DME supplier do anything. It is new and shiney and runs great (6 mph - programmable to 8) and I've never had a new one. It'll do - knowwhatimean ???
