Hi W,

I understand your concern and cynicism. This survey research is not just posted
here but at other websites for national organizations (MS, spinal cord
injuries). There is a great need for research but it is very difficult to find
lots of people who fit the criteria besides my own friends and family. There is
a way to find out if this research is legit as I had mentioned earlier. You can
also go to http://www.psu.edu and type in "IRB" (for Institutional Review
Board) in the search area. Click on the first thing that comes up and somewhere
on there it will contain the phone number and e-mail address I gave you if you
want to find out if the study is legit. Believe it or not my close friend had
MS when she started her Master's program and became paraplegic within a year.
She did complete her Master's degree and is working as a rehab counselor. I
have another friend in the clinical psychology doctoral program who has
fibromyalgia and is in constant pain but did complete his degree. They are what
propelled me to be in this program. But you are right that there are not enough
people with disabilities in graduate programs. If you start the survey and find
it harmful you can always close your browser. The raffle is something that is
commonly used in general research and not just for research on people with
disabilities. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone. If you have more
concerns or questions please contact me or the IRB office. Thank you!

Jenny
