The bowel is such a kewl subject. Books have been written and millions of dollars have been made on selling products that will temper, evacuate, retard and clean the bowels. Yet people of all shapes and sizes continue to have problems, after all these years. What you consume, will have a direct impact (lol) on your bowels whether you are a TAB or DAB. Most bowels are all born the same way and begin to take shape when solids begin. How one takes care of their bowels, or doesn't take care of their bowels will often tell in the end ( again, my humor). Bowels speak or communicate with us, but do we listen? Remember when you were a kid and had to go ??? Nothing stopped the process, but as we age we think we get smarter and learn to hold that which desperately wants to come out. We think of it as discipline, your bowel thinks of it as torture and often lets you know one way or another..... Those who are not mobile or have impaired mobility sometimes require a bowel program. The unfortunate part about it is... nothing is normal from that point on..... Let's see what your doctors says after the culture. Best Wishes In a message dated 10/28/2008 1:38:22 P.M. It does sometimes, but it's not a constant. I have been popping gasx quite a bit lately, but I'm not exceeding the recommended dosage. Not to mention the fact that I only get by by taking at least one Pepto-Bismol tablet a day. It does seem to help soothe the problem. Oh yeah, on the bowel regiment days I usually take mineral oil and that really helps soothe the pain. When I was at the hospital last I briefly saw a G.I. Dr. and now that I recall she wanted a stool sample, but it was kind of hectic and a staff never got one. I'm going to call in today to see what I need to do in order to obtain one. Thanks again for the advice. During those episodes of pain, is your belly expanding with the gas as your food is being processed/digested. Again, Best Wishes In a message dated 10/27/2008 6:07:08 P.M. I'm not able to use fresh milk because I have become increasingly intolerant of lactose. When I have to use milk I use the lactose-free milk. Loose stool usually is related to gas. The oatmeal should be absorbing a lot of excess liquids in your digestive system as it is processed. If you have a bug in your system, it should be cultured and tested. Maybe a daily bowel movement might be better for awhile, maybe not. I hope you are using fresh milk with your oat meal. Once again my bowels have erupted in pain. I am racking my brain trying to figure out what it is that may be causing this problem, but the only thing I can ID is that I did change my probiotic (acidophilus) to one without dairy. The sad part is it's really expensive and right now I just don't know if it is the problem or not. I have been a proponent of oatmeal and I take Metamucil on a daily basis. Over the last couple of weeks I have been plagued with a burning sensation that begins just below my belly region and extends all the way down to the rectum. I would think these are phantom pains, but my bowel regiment has had nothing but loose movements for what seems like ages. Even when my bowels seemed to be doing pretty well, which is that they aren't in excruciating pain, I consistently have loose movements. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm going to try to talk to my doctor once again, but this happened last year from June through November and it was the oatmeal once a day that finally got me through it. This year I had the problem from late June through the middle of August and I was never able to identify what remedy the situation. I have written in before, but I'm almost willing to do anything now.
