I use Verizon with my friend and her two kids. The phone was free on a family
plan deal. It is a Casio but it does everything I need plus more. I'm fond of
the automatic answer and set it to speakerphone. I never miss a call. I had
help adding all the numbers to my phone, but once they are in there, it is set.
I shortcut the voice call so I can call a name or a number. It has been dropped
and slammed and it is suppose to be excellent for not dying from impact.,
I didn't think I'd be able to use it but now I'm surprised I got along without
it. It takes some fiddling and practice, but it is worth the effort. I can even
take pix and short movies. I don't try to run up a bill but I'm learning to use
some features I never thought possible. The real kick is it is just a flip
phone. Nothing special. Nobody making it for quads. Choosing the best way to
afford 4 different phones was more challenging. For 2 years I pay 22 dollars a
month and I doubt I'll use the minutes I'm allotted. I use it mostly on
weekends and after 9 pm to talk. Before you give up, go try out the different
style phones and investigate the options. i started by asking what won't break?
Automatic answering, huge help! Most phones do it but people do not know it is
there. I was like you at first. Now I can't imagine being without my personal
communicator.

Happy New Year,
john

Hi All!

About 2 months ago I purchased a home phone with a bluetooth headset
(over-the-ear type, not over-the-head). It's a "Calisto" by
Plantronics. It can be used as a handheld, o speakerphone, or with the
headset/earpiece at the press of a button. And it's all switchable between
them even in the middle of a call.

The home headset is compatible with my super-cheapo, Samsung R430 camera phone.
The cell was $30 but with a 2 yr contract with Alltel I got a $30 rebate...
i.e., free phone! I can switch the home phone headset/earpiece between cell and
home by pressing a button on the earpiece.

Then just yesterday I bought a USB-to-Bluetooth adaptor (Belkin, $35 at
OfficeMax) and found I was able to transfer pics from my camera cell phone to my
computer without using Alltel airtime. ALSO, and this is the best part, the
Plantronics headset/earpiece is an approved DragonDictate microphone!

So one headset operates home phone, cell phone, and Dragon.

The Plantronics Calisto was a bit pricey but absolutely worth every penny!
With the earpiece always on, or if I'm in reach of the handset, I can easily
answer without wresting with headset or phone wires even if I don't have the
phone with me (It works within 30 ft. of the handset. And the handset works
within 100 ft. of the base.) Only drawback is tiny numbers but a mouthstick
takes care of that and USB integration to Microsoft Outlook's Contact list
helps.

I hope that helps.

Best of luck to ya! And VERY Happy Holidays to All of You!

Sincerely,
Tod
