Dear friends,
I would appreciate you writing a short note to the White House urging
President Obama not to appoint Governor Bredesen of Tennessee as secretary of
Health and Human Services. For instance, Governor Bredesen just proposing
state
directed care for persons with disabilities and Kansas has had this program in
place since 1990. Healthcare will regress with this man in charge. It would
also be a good idea to call your legislators. I plan to do so.
Mark went to Tennessee with Gov. Breseden was cutting care to the state to
rally for that with disabilities. I hope you well let you know about what was
going on from first-hand experience.
Gratefully yours,
Dana

As you may have heard by now, Governor Bredesen of Tennessee is on the short
list of candidates to replace Daschle as nominee for Secretary of Health and
Human Services. Governor Bredesen was the Governor who led Tennessee to be
the worst state in the nation for long term services and supports, and was
Governor when last ADAPT went to Tennessee. If you would like to share your
comments with the White House here is a website where brief (500 character)
comment can be sent http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/eop/opl/

Gov Bredesen as HHS secretary…
Let us remember “Medicaid is socialist medicine and must end,”
Bredesen. “I’m not cutting there services they can go to the nursing
home for help,” Bredesen.
just two important statements that run counter to the HHS, and the
administration. Not to mention while Governor he is responsible for
having the longest sit in, inside a State Capitol , in U.S. history and
refused to negotiate, instead tried intimidation. Some of the intimidation
tactics still linger. Oh yeah, I’ve heard the scream too.
Oh, and one more thing, when advocates expressed concerns about,
and later documented, that people would die if their TennCare was cut
Gov B scoffed and said we were just trouble makers.
