They need to call some doctors at some respectable hospitals. Think twice before you let them make nasty holes in your back. I can understand their fear of some virulent strains of staph, but it is you to you to express your fears to your doctors. This is the person you don't keep secrets from. Not being able to view this really sets everyone back a lot when second guessing them. If it is staph then it must be destroyed as fast as possible. It's size could mean you are already septic. (I pray I'm wrong.) Make a pertinent list of questions and go see them ASAP. Don't be afraid to tell them you are scared. I'd want an MRI, X-ray, Biopsy and a sonogram to go with any other tests they have performed, but you are dependent on a small clinic far from a big teaching hospital. So, ask hard questions so they must read and attend medical seminars and lectures to keep up with the weird stuff your body can do and leave them looking stupid among their peers. You don't have average patient problems so you are a test to many doctors. The smart ones learn what they need to know, the rest look at you as if your stupid when you bring up autonomic dysreflexia. Remind your doctor of how slowly your back will heal. If you do not understand his explanation, just politely tell him that. I feel it is important to be nice to medical staffs. If they like you, maybe they will try harder to help you. I could be wrong.
