I am a C4 quad complete, and am running a supported living program for mentally retarded adults, two of which have been with me for numerous years. For years I had a training program for adults with mental retardation to teach them how to work in farm/landscape situation, and then found jobs for them in the community. They learned how to maintain landscapes, groom and take care of horses, and interact with people in the community that had hired them to do their landscaping. Unfortunately, liability insurance became more than what I was earning from the program, so we had to close the program.
I often get invitations to speak in schools and other training programs for the mentally handicapped, so I went from being a caregiver for my mother who had a major stroke, to needing caregiving my self, and back to caregiving-sort of hand in hand helping each other-. Just take everyone's advice, analyze what you can do best, and then set your mind and go for it. Good luck, and let us know how you are getting on.
