Hi guys,
My name is Yannik, I'm from Canada. It's the first time I post a message on
this forum. I suffered a motorcycle accident back in 2003 that left me
quadriplegic. The lesion was a C5/C6 complete injured. Since the accident, I've
been sick like nobody can imagine, I had many lung infections but the worst is
my bladder infections For example, in the last 2 months, I've been hospitalized
3 times for these bladder infections and most of the time, it's the same two
bacteria, Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus (SARM or MRSA). The reason for these
bladder infections Dr. said is because I have a permanent catheter, actually a
suprapubic catheter. Also, for some reasons, I'm very very sensitive to
autonomic dysreflexia), it almost kill me two times and it's very scary.

Now, the reason I am writing to you guys is because I'm at the end of my leash,
I've seen doctors and specialist and in this small town, you can tell that
they're not familiar with Quads and my condition so they keep hospitalizing me
and getting me antibiotics every time I get a bladder infections. The problem
is I'm getting resistant to these antibiotics which is intravenous and it's
impossible to have a quality of life because I'm hospitalize more than 10 times
a year and every time, I stay in bed around 2 to 3 weeks so it's hard on me and
my family.

I would like to know if I'm the only quadriplegic who is having all these
obstacles (bladder infections & many episode of autonomic dysreflexia), even
after 6 years. Also, is there any other way I could prevent these infections ?
I already tried cranberry juice and supplement, mandalamine had work for a
while but not anymore and I also tried taking antibiotic like Macrobid in
prophylaxis to prevent but I became resistant. I am waiting for some feedback
from you guys.

Thanks in advance,

Yannik Anglehart
