Granted, its easy to "lump" those with disabilities and we often do it.... because we can. It still doesn't make it right. To every hard rule...there will be exceptions. It is inhuman to take the life of another so do we treat those who kill as having a disability? I know its an extreme example but it demonstrates just how goofy the subject can be. I personally know several people who are overweight, because they can afford to eat that much. Perhaps, we should tax those who return to the serving line at "all you can eat" buffets. Education is an important issue in dealing with those obese and eliminating "discounts" at all you can eat at fast food stores. Its a very sensitive subject and remains between a patient and their doctor. Lumping all fat people doesn't begins to resolve such an important issue in survival. So is the "motivation to lose those unproductive pounds" in the same class as "motivation to stop gambling" or "motivation to stop drinking or "motivation to stop smoking" or "motivation to start walking"? It's all just mind over matter? Just man-up and DO IT? I guess since these are all signs of mental weakness, we could just lock up fat people until they lost weight to where they could walk again. That would work. Maybe put the drinkers, smokers, and gamblers in there too - they could have a party. Just because you don't have a problem doesn't mean it doesn't "count" as a problem. These people are damaged and need help not ostrization. Young people talk of the future because they have no past, while old people talk of the past because they have no future. _Dave & Patty's Grandkids_ (http://ocgrands.com/) In a message dated 6/17/2009 10:42:43 A.M. Too many Americans are consuming too many calories which do not contain healthy benefits. A person affected by "water" weight is a much different issue then excess fat. Fat is produced from eating fatty foods. Too much and too many. Poor eating habits are the leading cause, with physical limitations being a minor cause. Eating "greens" is not popular and fast foods prevail. Removing obesity from the list of disabilities means that a person who is morbidly overweight will have the motivation to lose those unproductive pounds..... One subject they voted on was that obesity is NOT a disability, which I concur. What do all of you think about this subject? ~ Bobbie ____________________________________ Download the _AOL Classifieds Toolbar_ (http://toolbar.aol.com/aolclassifieds/download.html?ncid=emlcntusdown00000004) for local deals at your fingertips. ____________________________________ Download the _AOL Classifieds Toolbar_ (http://toolbar.aol.com/aolclassifieds/download.html?ncid=emlcntusdown00000004) for local deals at your fingertips. ____________________________________ _Dell Days of Deals!
